Sod calculator
Enter the size of the lawn. The calculator adds a little for cuts and edges and gives the square feet to order, pallets and pieces.
How sod is calculated
Measure the lawn in square feet, then add 5% for cuts along curves, beds and paths (up to 10% for very irregular lawns). Divide by the size of a pallet or a piece.
Example: a 50 × 30 ft lawn is 1,500 ft². With 5% extra, order 1,575 ft²: 4 pallets of 450 ft², or 593 slabs.
Pallet and piece sizes
| Unit | Covers |
|---|---|
| Pallet | 400 to 500 ft² (450 is common) |
| Slab, 16 × 24 in | 2.66 ft² |
| Mini roll | 5 ft² |
| Big roll | 10 ft² |
Ask your farm for their pallet size: it varies by grass and region. Lawns curve around beds, drives and trees. Trace yours on a satellite map in AreaMap to get the real square footage instead of a rough rectangle.
